  • On September 29, 2018, members of Chapman University’s Phi chapter of Delta Kappa, the National Honor Society for Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) participated for the second time in the annual National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) five kilometer charity walk. Held at Angel Stadium in Orange, California, the walk raises funds for and public awareness of NAMI. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. According to the NAMI website (www.namiwalks.org) the Phi Chapter raised $3368, exceeding its goal by over $300. Funds were raised through the generous support of loved ones who pledged money on behalf of team members. Additionally, the Phi Chapter opened the invitation to all Chapman MFT students to walk and raise money for NAMI. Chapman University’s Frances Smith Center sponsored a table at the event. Tabling at the walk allowed the Phi Chapter to promote the clinic’s sliding-scale mental health services while also raising awareness about Delta Kappa, the MFT field, and graduate degree programs at Chapman University.
