Dr. Amy Yates along with Dr. Cole organized and instituted the first Delta Kappa Marriage and Family Therapy Research Symposium in 2000. Dr. Michelle Robertson organized and directed the first Delta Kappa conference in 2002 while a student at The University of Louisiana at Monroe. Dr. Cole along with Dr. Katherine Wilson organized and instituted the first Delta Kappa Marriage and Family Therapy Ethics Symposium in 2004. Delta Kappa instituted awards for the Outstanding Student in Marriage and Marriage and Therapy. The first recipient of the Outstanding Student Award was Dr. Dan Williams in 2000.
